The Danish government published the world’s first ever national action plan to shift towards a plant-based diet in October2023. The policy aims to increase demand for plant-based foods, develop a supply and improve how stakeholders work together. The activity is a drastic step to change the way Danes eat to help cut carbon emission by 70 percent before 2030, with plant-based foods incurring roughly half of the emissions of meat production.
In 2018 the Vanuatu government became one of the first in the world to outlaw the sale and distribution of certain single-use plastics – including a world-first ban on plastic straws.
